Founded in 1950 as Bourne End Nurseries by Bryn Evans, a young farm manager from Marlow, the business began as a small market gardening and landscaping enterprise designed to supplement the seasonal nature of turkey farming. The Bourne End site itself has an interesting history: originally a flooded watercress field used to feed turkeys and enhance their flavour, the land was drained and transformed into the nursery we know today. What began with a single greenhouse and very modest facilities has grown steadily over seven decades into a thriving, multi-faceted business.

Over the years, Flowerland has built a reputation not only for high-quality plants, including bedding, shrubs, herbaceous perennials and houseplants, but also for creating a welcoming environment where customers can enjoy a full garden centre experience. The business has continually expanded, adding furniture, pet care, aquatics, homeware, gifts, a food hall and a restaurant, all while remaining closely connected to the local community.

Today, the nursery is proudly run by the second generation of the Evans family, maintaining the values and vision of its founder.
