How to: Dreamy Hydrangea Arrangement

How to: Dreamy Hydrangea Arrangement

Looking for a way to bring some instant, elegant greenery into your home or garden? This blue hydrangea and maidenhair fern arrangement is absolutely stunning—and best of all, it’s so easy to make that you don’t need any special skills at all!

Here’s exactly how you can create it yourself:

What You’ll Need:

A large, shallow pot (something nice and wide to give the plants room to spread)

Good quality soil (choose something rich and free-draining)

5–7 maidenhair ferns

5–7 single-stem blue hydrangeas

Tip: Always work in odd numbers when arranging plants—this gives a more natural, wild, and balanced look!

How to Plant It:

Fill your pot about three-quarters full with compost.

Make holes with your fingers, just deep enough for the plant roots.

Start planting your maidenhair ferns first around the edge of the pot.

Nestle in your hydrangeas towards the centre or slightly off-centre for a relaxed feel.

Top up with more soil around the plants and gently pat it down to keep everything snug and secure.

Water thoroughly right after planting—both hydrangeas and ferns love plenty of moisture.

A Few Extra Tips:

Water often, but make sure the pot drains well—neither hydrangeas nor ferns like to sit in soggy soil.

Place your arrangement somewhere with bright, indirect light. Too much sun can scorch those delicate fern leaves!

Why We Love It:

This arrangement feels fresh, romantic, and wildly beautiful. It’s a statement piece that looks like it took hours to create, but only needs a few simple steps.
