A Legacy of Growth: From Market Gardening to Garden Center
The story of our nursery began in 1950 with Bryn Evans. What started as a small, seasonal venture soon flourished into something much larger. The field where Bourne End Nurseries now sits was once a flooded watercress field! Once the watercress was no longer needed, the field was drained, and the first greenhouse was erected.
It was a modest beginning—just one small greenhouse, and no customer toilets (those were at Bryn’s house across the road!). However, the nursery began to grow, season after season, expanding the variety of plants in more greenhouses, and gradually increasing its workforce. What started with a few seasonal bedding plants blossomed into a thriving operation, offering a wide range of plants and gardening supplies. Today, the nursery has expanded into multiple sites, offering everything from plants and gardening essentials to furniture, pet supplies, and gifts.
